Nine Mile Road closed for I-64 bridge replacement project

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Nine Mile Road will be closed nightly from Hanover Road to East McClellan Street Sunday, September 18 through Thursday, September 22 from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. as part of the bridge replacement project.

According to VDOT, if the weather permits, work will include setting bridge deck supports, including girders and diaphragms, for the I-64 bridge over Nine Mile Road.

Drivers in the area can use VDOT’s posted detour to travel around the work zone:

  • Northbound Nine Mile Rd.: Take Airport Dr. (Rt. 156) south to Route 156/Hwy. 60 east back to Nine Mile Rd. (Rt. 33) north.
  • Southbound Nine Mile Rd.: Take Route 156/Hwy. 60 west to Airport Dr. (Rt. 156) north back to Nine Mile Rd. (Rt. 33) south.
