5 people injured in 3 vehicle crash in Goochland, including St. Gertrude’s students

GOOCHLAND COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Five people are in the hospital after a multiple vehicle crash that occurred Friday afternoon in Goochland County.

Three of the people involved in the crash were students at St. Gertrude High School, an all-girls Catholic school in Richmond.

The students had just left Benedictine College Preparatory School after participating in a joint field day between the two schools.

The three girls suffered non-life-threatening injuries. However, all three were transported to the hospital.

The three-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection of River Road and Lower Tuckahoe Road.

The extent of the injuries of the other two people involved is unknown, but one was transported to a hospital by vehicle from the scene and the other was taken by helicopter from the scene.

The accident occurred shortly after 1 p.m. this afternoon and the roadway in the area is currently back open.

The investigation is ongoing.
