1 dead after shooting in Gilpin Court

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — One man is dead after a shooting Friday night on the 1100 block of St. Paul St. in Richmond’s Gilpin Court neighborhood. Police are active seeking the shooter.

“Detectives hope that people will come forward with information that is crucial to understanding what occurred here tonight.”

According to the Richmond Police Department, police were called to the scene at 7:23. The victim, a male, was already dead when first responders arrive. The victim suffered an apparent gunshot wound.

At this time, no one is in custody.

“When officers arrived they noticed many people in the immediate vicinity in the 1100 block of St. Paul’s street. Detectives hope that people will come forward with information that is crucial to understanding what occurred here tonight,” said Richmond Police spokesperson James Mercante.
