HANOVER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Deputies with Hanover County Sheriff’s Office are investigating after multiple vehicles were stolen from a neighborhood in Mechanicsville this week. Additionally, authorities say other vehicles had also been rummaged through and had property stolen from them.

On Monday, September 12, deputies responded to the 8000 block of Willow Avenue in Mechanicsville’s Spring Meadows subdivision for a reported stolen video. While on scene, deputies discovered another vehicle had been stolen from the same neighborhood. Multiple vehicles in the neighborhood had also been entered and had property stolen.

Later that night, deputies say property was stolen from multiple vehicles in the 5900 block of Dugout Terrace in the Battlefield Green subdivision.

Both of the stolen vehicles have been recovered — one in Mechanicsville and the other in the City of Richmond.

Investigators say they are working diligently to recover all stolen property while they continue to process evidence. They are still seeking suspects.

“I would encourage all citizens to lock their vehicles and remove all valuables, even if you park your vehicle in a locked garage,” Sheriff This is a crime of opportunity and is preventable. We ask for the public’s assistance by locking their vehicles and removing all valuables,” said Colonel David R. Hines, Hanover County Sheriff, said in a release.

The Sheriff’s Office also requests that any citizen that lives in the area where these crimes were committed and has an exterior security camera, to please check their footage and contact the Sheriff’s Office if anything suspicious is noticed.

Anyone with more information about these incidents is asked to contact the Hanover County Sheriff’s Office at (804) 365-6140 or the Metro Richmond Crime Stoppers at (804) 780-1000. Citizens can also text Crime Stoppers at 274637 (CRIMES), using the keyword “iTip” followed by their tip. Both Crime Stoppers methods are anonymous.
