RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Martin Agency has laid off 29 employees, effective Wednesday.

The 29 employees are split between the agency’s Richmond and New York offices, although the majority were employed at the agency’s headquarters in Richmond.

The agency said multiple factors led to the staff reduction, including a decrease in projected client spending, losing an account with Walmart in July and staff realignment to better meet clients’ needs.

The layoffs bring the agency’s total employee count down from 515 to 486, which is a 5.6 percent reduction.
