New Kent County Unity March draws 150 residents and officers

NEW KENT COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A unity march in New Kent County Saturday brought together about 150 people to create solidarity between citizens, police and prosecutors.

New Kent County Sheriff J. Joseph McLaughlin Jr. and event organizer Charles Moss led the march from the Old Historic School to New Kent courthouse as part of the first New Kent Unity walk held Saturday morning.

Citizens and law enforcement officers walked side-by-side to promote peace and provide comfort to each other in the light of recent violence in America between citizens and police.

Other activities included a joint singing of the national anthem, prayer for military personnel and musical performances.
