2 arrested for possession of meth following traffic stop in Chesterfield County

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — Police have arrested and charged two men who were found to be in possession of methamphetamine during a traffic stop Wednesday.

HAZMAT crews, as well as police and fire officials, were called to the area of Forest Lake Road and Jefferson Davis Highway shortly at around 2 p.m. after officers discovered suspicious substances while conducting a routine traffic stop.

Part of the Chester neighborhood was shut down as crews investigated the substance. The scene was cleared shortly after 5 p.m.


The driver of the vehicle, 30-year-old Michael Keith Mays of the 15000 block of Bradley Bridge Road, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, conspiracy to possess methamphetamine and maintaining a common nuisance.

The passenger, 30-year-old Kenneth Lee Tinsley of the 14000 block of Jefferson Davis Highway, was charged with possession of methamphetamine, manufacture of methamphetamine, possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and conspiracy to manufacture methamphetamine.

Police say the incident was contained to the suspect vehicle and did not involve any of the surrounding homes.
