Chesterfield County Police seek public’s help to identify body

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Chesterfield County Police Department is still seeking the public’s help to identify a man whose remains were discovered back in March near the 1300 block of Bellwood Road.

On March 13, a man fishing in the area found a body along the bank of the James River and called the police.

Chesterfield County Fire and EMS personnel assisted with the recovery of the remains, which have been found to be those of a black male with facial hair.

With the assistance of the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner and the Virginia Department of Forensic Science, Chesterfield County Police are still working to determine the identity of the man and his cause of death.

At the time his body was recovered, he was wearing: a black Nike T-shirt, size XL; Pro Player track pants, size L; a fleece jacket, one size fits all; plaid boxer shorts, unknown size; and two black socks.
