2 injured after early morning shooting near VSU

ETTRICK, Va. (WRIC) — Petersburg Police are investigating a shooting that has left two people injured and four arrested near the campus of Virginia State University early Saturday morning.

Police responded to a report of a shooting at the intersection of University Boulevard and High Street around 12:30 a.m. One person was shot in the hand and the other in the leg, both taken to Southside Regional Medical Center, with non-life threatening injuries. A vehicle was stopped at the scene by Police and they arrested 4 people in the car, weapons were seized as well. There was some type of dispute between the two groups that the shooting started from, but police are unsure the nature at this time.

Police could not confirm if the victims and suspects were VSU students.
