Richmond SPCA volunteers rescue Louisiana flood dogs

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Volunteers from the Richmond SPCA returned with 14 dogs from the Louisiana SPCA Friday evening.

The Richmond volunteers picked up the dogs in Nashville Friday morning to clear out space in the Louisiana shelter so it could take in dogs displaced by the flooding in the state.

“By bringing them here to Richmond, we’re allowing the Louisiana SPCA to clear out their shelter so that then they can serve as an emergency shelter, taking in pets that have been displaced by the flooding,” said Tabitha Treloar, Director of Communications of the Richmond SPCA.

All of the dogs were scheduled to receive vet screenings.
