Richmond man pleads guilty in deadly hit and run

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond man who was charged in a deadly hit and run back in February plead guilty to the crime today.

65-year-old John B. Spence was charged with felony hit and run after he allegedly struck and killed 55-year-old Christopher A. Griffin as he was attempting to cross Semmes Avenue southbound near the intersection with Cowardin Avenue.

Police said Spence did not stop and continued to travel eastbound. He was later located and arrested on the 2800 block of East Leigh Street.

Spence will serve four years in jail for the crime and for a charge of involuntary manslaughter.
