Richmond, Va. (WRIC) — A recall is out for Xenith football helmets after reports of helmets cracking, posing a head injury hazard to players.

A total of 5,900 helmets are recalled after 29 reports of helmets cracking, though no injuries have been reported.

The recall includes Xenith Epic Varsity, X2 Varsity, X2E Varsity and Youth football helmets sold or factory-reconditioned between May 1, 2015 and March 18, 2016. These helmets were sold through team dealers and sporting goods stores nationwide. The full list of serial numbers under recall is on Xenith’s website.

Players and teams using these helmets should stop using them immediately. Players, coaches or parents should then contact Xenith for a free replacement.
