Victim identified in shooting in Richmond’s east end

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Last night at approximately 11:42 p.m., officers were called to 30th Street and Nine Mile Road for the report of a person down.

Officers arrived and found a male suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, but died early this morning.

Benjamin T. Goode, 31, of the 500 block of East Beale Street, has been identified as the victim.

The Medical Examiner will determine cause and manner of death.

Detectives have opened a homicide investigation and believe the victim was shot while in the 1800 block of Creighton Road and ran toward the area of 30th Street and Nine Mile Road where he collapsed.
