3 pets die, firefighter injured in Henrico County fire

HENRICO, Va. (WRIC) — A Henrico County resident’s three pets are dead following a house fire that took place in the county’s west end this morning.

The accidental fire in the 6000 block of Indigo Road began in the kitchen and spread aggressively into the walls.

No people were home during the fire, and it was only reported after neighbors and passer-bys noticed smoke.

Two rabbits and a dog all died in the fire.

The fire also resulted in a minor injury to a firefighter who is expected to recover.

The home is not considered livable due the extent of the interior damage.

The Red Cross is currently assisting the displaced occupants.
