WASHINGTON (CNN) — A core member of former President George W. Bush’s economic team says he says he will be voting for Hillary Clinton.

“I don’t want to live in a society that I think Donald Trump will create.” — former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez

On the Sunday edition of CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ Carlos Gutierrez called Donald Trump’s economic policies a “disaster.”

“I had to look at the totality of the picture. I have one resume here for Donald Trump, I have one resume here for Hillary Clinton uh… And I’ve chosen this resume,” said former Commerce Secretary Carlos Gutierrez. “I think this person, Hillary Clinton, is the best for the country. I’m not thinking about a Republican, I’m thinking about a U.S. citizen.

“I think at some point you have to put the party aside and say, ‘what’s best for the country?’ I don’t want to live in a society that I think Donald Trump will create.”

Gutierrez is a proponent of free trade, something Trump has been strongly against throughout his candidacy.

He said he believes Clinton learned during her husband’s presidency that cutting the budget deficit drives economic growth.
