COLONIAL HEIGHTS, Va. (WRIC) — According to Colonial Heights Fire and EMS, a couple “flats” full of prepackaged water fell off of a shelf at the Colonial Heights Sam’s Club onto a 4-year-old boy and his father on Saturday.

They were both transported to Southside Regional Medical Center. The boy suffered a broken arm. Their injuries do not appear to be life-threatening.

A representative from Sam’s Club made a statement.

“We’re incredibly saddened a young child was recently injured in one of our clubs. Our team in the club responded quickly and we’re staying in touch with the family. We are doing all we can to help as he recovers,” Tara Raddohl said. “We immediately started looking into what caused the incident. Once we fully understand what happened, if we find we need to do something differently, we’ll do it.”

The Fire Marshall and building inspector are investigating into the cause of the accident.
