Bike around the bomb brings awareness to nuclear weapons

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — 71 years ago the United States dropped nuclear bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

Today activists rallied in Richmond against the use of nuclear weapons.

Global Zero activists held “bike around the bomb” today at the VCU compass plaza.

The 7-mile-bike rid happened to bring attention to the threat of nuclear weapons today.

“We’re just kind of riding down main all the way around the fan. If a nuclear blast were to go off, that’s how big the blast would be,” Jack Wolfe, a coordinator for the event said.

The group is asking the next president to address the nuclear threat on their first day in office.
