Petition to rename the Cincinnati Bengals in honor of Gorilla

CINCINNATI (WRIC) — A petition on is trying to change the name of the Cincinnati National Football League team from the Bengals to the Harambes.

Harambe is the gorilla who was killed by zoo keepers after a child fell into his pen at the zoo.

The petition says, “The Cleveland Browns named their team after a former coach who made a great impact on their city, so why can’t the Bengals do it as well in honor of a hero who made an impact on their city too!”

So far more than 3,300 people have signed the petition.
