Amputee’s prosthetic leg stolen during brutal attack by girlfriend’s ex-husband

STANLEY, NC (WCMH) — Three people are facing charges in North Carolina after police say they badly beat a man and stole his prosthetic leg before leaving him for dead.

Gaston County, North Carolina police say Aaron Sanders and his girlfriend, Holly Mesker, got into an argument before Mesker called her ex-husband, seeking help attacking Sanders. Police told WBTV-TV that Sanders wanted Mesker to get out of the house, which is why she called her ex-husband and another person to attack Sanders.

Officers say Mesker’s ex-husband and the other person then threatened Sanders with a machete before hitting him with a baseball bat and stun gun. They then stole his wallet, cell phone and prosthetic leg before covering his body and leaving him for dead.

Sanders was able to crawl to his neighbor’s house and call for help, WBTV-TV reports. He was hospitalized with multiple broken bones, bruises and severe lacerations.

Police later arrested Mesker, her ex-husband Patrick Christopher and a person whose name was not revealed. They all face charges of attempted murder, burglary, larceny and conspiracy.
