10-year-old donates nearly 600 pair of shoes for kids in need

WILMINGTON, NC (WCMH) — For the last three years, the only birthday present Gunner Robinson has asked for is new shoes.

But he isn’t asking for the latest pair of Air Jordans, he’s asking for any pair of shoes that he can give back to his community.

“I’ve always got shoes, like new shoes for school (nice ones), and I want other kids to get them too,” Gunner told WWAY.

Gunner, whose birthday is August 15, has already donated nearly 600 pairs, and he isn’t stopping. This past Saturday, he bought 30 new pairs thanks to a donation from a high school reunion in the area.

“Words can’t even describe how proud we are of him because it was his idea, his doings,” Gunner’s mom Kristi Robinson said.

Gunner said he just likes helping people and doesn’t donate to be recognized.

“It just makes me feel better for other kids because they’re getting new shoes for the new school year,” he said.
