CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A motorcyclist was killed, another charged with Driving Under the Influence (DUI) late Tuesday night after a two-vehicle crash in Chesterfield County.
The crash occurred on Interstate 295 southbound, 500 feet north of Route 10.
Police said a 2012 Harley Davidson and a 2005 Harley Davidson were traveling south on I-295 at a high rate of speed when both operators lost control and crashed.
The operator of the 2012 Harley Davidson, Dennis Painter, 44, of Hopewell, was thrown from the motorcycle that was traveling I-295 south and landed onto the road below.
Painter died at the scene; his helmet was not a DOT approved helmet.
The operator of the 2005 Harley Davidson, Jeremiah Tomlin, 38, of North Dinwiddie County, was charged with DUI and transported to the Chesterfield County Jail where he is being held without bond.
