Woman found dead after East End Henrico fire

HENRICO COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One woman is dead after a fire consumed her apartment in eastern Henrico County.

52-year-old Lisa Woodson was killed this afternoon when her Highland Springs townhome caught fire.

Tonight she’s being remembered by her neighbors on Cornett Street. These neighbors continue looking on in disbelief as police and fire officials search for clues into what caused this devastating fire.

“It must have been around almost 4 o’clock,” one neighbor said, describing the scene when he first noticed smoke coming from the back of his neighbor’s two story townhouse.

The man’s wife said she thought the flames could have come from the kitchen, but said she didn’t know for sure.

Fire crews arrived to find flames on the second floor. That’s when family members say the body of Woodson was found.

Neighbors who had known Woodson for almost two decades said she was always a good neighbor and kind person.

“We would just meet up and talk about our pastors and our churches,” a neighborhood woman said.

8News spoke with Woodson’s father who asked that the family have privacy during their time of grief.

Fire officials said it could be days before we lean what caused the fire.
