RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — VCU Police reported a water main break affecting the 900 block of West Franklin Street near VCU Monroe Park campus just after 7:30 a.m.
As of 8:30 a.m., the water has been drained and repairs to the road are underway.
Police say the cleanup and repairs could take 10 to 12 hours and that the public should avoid the area, if possible.
An 8News viewer, Eli Christman, sent in a video of the water main break, which shows water gushing down Franklin Street and into the sidewalk.
