Public mourns the men recently killed by police

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Public funerals were held Thursday and Friday to honor the two black men who were killed by police a week ago.

Hundreds gathered in Minnesota to remember Philando Castile Thursday. Castile was the man who was shot and killed by police in Minnesota a week ago in the middle of a traffic stop.

A procession, including a horse-drawn carriage with red and white roses carried Castile’s casket to the cathedral of St. Paul.

Minnesota’s governor also attended the service.

State authorities are investigating the shooting.

Today, mourners also gathered to pay their final respects to Alton Sterling today.

He also was killed by police in Louisiana on July 5. Al Sharpton and Jess Jackson were in attendance.
