16-year-old hopes to become youngest black pilot to fly around U.S.

JACKSON, Miss. (WJTV) — A 16-year-old pilot from California made a stop in the Metro Thursday.

He’s on a mission to become the youngest black pilot to fly the continental U.S. Isaiah Cooper has been flying planes since he was 14 years old.

Thursday, he made it to Hawkins Field in Hinds County. He flies about five to six hours each day.

Isaiah departed from Alabama Thursday morning to get to Mississippi.
