Candlelight prayer vigil for law enforcement, religious leaders to be held in Spotsylvania

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (WRIC) — Sheriff Roger L. Harris, along with the regional Law Enforcement and faith-based community leaders, are inviting the citizens of their communities to join together for a candlelight prayer vigil.

The vigil will be held at the Spotsylvania Public Safety building, located at 9119 Dean Ridings Lane, on Wednesday, July 13, 2016, at 7:30 p.m.

“This event will be held, rain or shine, to continue our outreach and show our unending commitment to public service for the communities, that we serve,” Harris stated.

Agency Officials from several surrounding jurisdictions will be in attendance, including the Stafford County Sheriff’s Office, King George Sheriff’s Office, Caroline County Sheriff’s Office, Culpeper Police Department, Virginia Department of Corrections Probation and Parole, Rappahannock Regional Jail, Fredericksburg Police Department, Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, and the Fredericksburg Sheriff’s Office.

Several religious leaders and faith-based organizations have also committed to participate in this event.

All community members are invited to join the event, which will culminate with the lighting of candles, to signify unity and prayers for peace.
