Next stop for NOVA’s Townley Haas, 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Townley Haas qualified for his first Olympics by nine milliseconds in the 200 meter freestyle final of U.S. Olympic Trials two weeks ago in Omaha, NE. Friday he returned to his hometown to share the excitement with friends and family.

Haas, a graduate of Benedictine College Preparatory School and current Texas Longhorn, is the first NOVA swimmer to reach Olympic competition in the organization’s history.

He will depart for San Antonio after the weekend for 10 days of training with the U.S. Olympic Swim Team, a quick trip to Atlanta and then off to Rio De Janeiro, Brazil with his mother, father and siblings in August.
