CHESTERFIELD, Va. (WRIC) — A Chesterfield business is rallying around an employee whose family lost everything in the West Virginia floods. Kid to Kid is collecting items to send to the town of Clendenin.
Clendenin was one of the hardest hit areas. Thick mud covers the streets and the floors inside people’s homes.
“These are people that I love and care about, and I want to help out any way that I can,” says Meia Koon, who now works at the Chesterfield children’s consignment store. “It is my hometown, and I have great memories growing up there. They need any help they can get.”
Kid to Kid is collecting cleaning supplies, food, water, personal care items and pet food. Koon will drive it to Clendenin on Friday, July 8.
Anyone who wants to donate to the West Virginia relief efforts can drop off items at Kid to Kid located at 4537 Commonwealth Centre Parkway in Midlothian now through Thursday.
