July 4th celebrations cause anxiety in some veterans

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A major part of July 4th celebrations is also a source of anxiety for many war veterans.

Fireworks can be startling or disturbing for many people with post-traumatic stress disorder.

The organization ‘Military with PTSD’ is encouraging everyone to be courteous and aware that some veterans may be startled by the loud noise of fireworks this weekend.

They are offering free yard signs that read “combat veteran lives here – please be courteous with fireworks.”
