Identity of Friday’s Laurelbrook Drive homicide victim revealed

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) – Richmond Police identified the victim in the homicide that occurred Friday afternoon near Laurelbrook Drive.

Police say they found the body of Lakeith D. Hurd, 19, of the 9800 block of Proctors Road in Chesterfield County Friday in a grassy area on the side of the road around 5:15 p.m.

When they found him, he had signs of injury on his body.

The cause of death is still unknown at this time.

Just hours earlier, and less than two miles away, police responded to a deadly shooting at City Motel on Jefferson Davis Highway. Police found the body of a 38-year old man inside a motel room with a gunshot wound.

Police say they are looking at any possible similarities between the incidents. “We won’t rule out that possibility,” Deputy Chief Steve Drew told 8News Reporter Matthew McClellan. “But we will go down and compare the two and look at what we have.”
