Richmond, Va. (WRIC) — U.S. auto sales are expected to hit a record in the first six months of this year, according to Kelley Blue Book.

The company predicts that sales will be up 2 percent from those of last year. In 2015, auto sales hit a record of $17.5 million. The auto industry saw growth for several years before that, as well.

Sales were also up in June after a somewhat slow May.

Automakers will be reporting June sales throughout Friday.
