RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Flying Squirrels have had a tough season. They currently find themselves last in the Eastern League’s Western Division and second to last in the league overall.
None of this stops team Vice President Todd “Parney” Parnell from finding joy and imparting it to others.
Wednesday night, Parney used his lips to impart that joy to the cheek of Tyler Beede, who had just finished a dominant pitching performance in a 2-0 win over the Akron RubberDucks. While Beede was answering questions from 8Sports Anchor Chip Brierre, Parney snuck in a kiss on the cheek.
To Beede’s credit, the San Francisco Giant’s 2014 first-round pick and top pitching prospect hardly flinched, laughing as he continued to answer the question. Beede threw 7.2 scoreless innings and struck out a season-high nine batters while allowing just two hits and one walk to get the victory. If he can handle big league hitters the way he handled Parney, he’ll be just fine.
