Police investigating string of home burglaries in Chesterfield neighborhood

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — The Chesterfield County Police Department is investigating a string of burglaries in its Scottingham neighborhood. Police say 12 homes have been burglarized since May 31st.

B5C0A2A89E1647F1A773F99586BC7990Police have not identified any suspects but say the thieves targeted Eastwood, Greencastle, and Claypool Road homes. The most recent break-in occurred on Monday.

“I heard a window got broken in and that’s how they got in through the back in the middle of the daytime,” area resident Aaron Litt told 8News Reporter Nakell Williams.

Residents say the Scottingham neighborhood is a safe community, which is why they find the recent increase in crime both surprising and alarming. They say members of the Neighborhood Watch are on the lookout.
