RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Former UVA outfielder Mike Papi’s college career ended in bittersweet disappointment as the 2014 Virginia baseball time lost to Vanderbilt in the College World Series Final. His professional career is filled with promise. The Cleveland Indians drafted Papi in the 2014 MLB First Year Player Draft, and he was able to watch his alma mater win its first ever baseball national championship as a member of the Lynchburg Hillcats. In 2016, Papi has been promoted to Class AA Akron, where he recently faced the Flying Squirrels in Richmond.
