Former Albemarle County teacher charged with having sexual relations with student

ALBEMARLE COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — A former middle school teacher in Albemarle County has been arrested for allegedly having sexual relations with a student.

Amelia Tat, 26, was arrested by Lynchburg Police on Wednesday. She faces two felony counts of carnal knowledge of a minor and one felony count of taking indecent liberties with a child by a person in a custodial or supervisory relationship. She was also arrested on one felony count of carnal knowledge of a minor that occurred in Lynchburg.

According to the Albemarle County Police Department, the arrest was made following an investigation into alleged sexual activity between Tat and a student at Jack Jouett Middle School in 2015.
