Woman and 2 children rescued from James River

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Fire and rescue responded to a call on Belle Isle about a woman and 2 female children being stuck on the rocks.

Rescuers were able to contact the woman via cell phone and then physically after about 15 minutes.

No one was hurt during the incident.  The woman was just physically unable to get back to land from where she was.

Fire and rescue coordinated a rescue mission with VSP and the incident was under control in about 15 minutes.

The river was closed at the time of the incident because of high water levels.
