RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A high number of minors have crossed into the United States through its southern border this year. Many of them are fleeing violent conflict in Central American nations like Guatemala, El Salvador and Honduras.
Some have argued the surge of immigrants was brought on by policies created by the Obama administration that “basically neutered the deportation threat, and that’s really kept the surge going.” They argue that allowing immigrants to come into the country diverts resources that would otherwise go to American citizens.
