RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — A police statue will be moved today from festival park to its new home in Byrd park.
The statue portrays an officer holding a little girl in honor of the 28 Richmond Police officers who have died in the line of duty over the years.
In order to move the statue, movers had to separate the statue from its concrete base before sanding it down to make it level enough to stand in its new home in Byrd park.
This statue has stood in Festival Park for over 30 years.
Starting this afternoon it will be available for viewing in Byrd park.
