Police ID Richmond man killed in Gilpin Court shooting

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Richmond Police have launched a death investigation after two people were found shot in Gilpin Court early Friday morning.

At roughly 3:35 a.m., police say they responded to the 100 block of East Hill Street for a report of a trouble unknown. When they arrived, they found 35-year-old James Grant, III of the 2500 block of Lynhaven Avenue, in the backyard of his apartment building suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to VCU Medical Center where he later died.

As officers were investigating, a woman was found inside the apartment with a gunshot wound to the arm, but police say her injuries are non-life threatening and she is expected to recover.
