Armed robbery reported at the VFW in Hopewell

HOPEWELL, Va. (WRIC) — Hopewell Police responded Thursday night to a reported armed robbery at a local VFW hall.

At about 3 a.m. Thursday morning, police investigated the robbery that allegedly took place at the VFW hall located at 206 Winston Churchill Drive.

Upon investigating, police learned that a single offender had entered the business with a gun and ordered the patrons of the facility to the floor while demanding money.

The offender fled the business on foot with a victim’s cell phone and a bottle of liquor but received no currency.

The offender was described as a black male, approximately 6’1″ and weighing 175 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black mask, black coat and black gloves

The Hopewell Police Department’s Criminal Investigations Unit continues to investigate this matter and other incidents that may be related.
