Suspected drunk driver arrested after car plunges into James River

CHESTERFIELD COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — No one was injured after a suspected drunk driver drove his car into the James River in Chesterfield County Tuesday evening.

image2Police say they responded to Dutch Gap boat landing at 4441 Coxendale Road at roughly 5:45 p.m. and found a single vehicle in the water.

The driver, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, was located a short time later and was taken into custody. He was arrested for DUI but has not been formally charged, according to police.
