Opening of state’s only OTB site pushed back

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The opening of the only off-track betting site (OTB) in Virginia has been pushed back until the beginning of November.

Back in June, the Virginia Racing Commission gave Breaker’s Sports Bar and Grille on Broad Street in Henrico County the green light for satellite wagering.

Breaker’s will have four self-service machines and eight signals to likely watch races in New York, Pennsylvania, Florida and California. It will be the only OTB in the state after Colonial Downs closed last year.

Breaker’s had hoped to open OTB on Monday, October 17, but told 8News construction and hiring is still underway. They now hope to open OTB on November 1.
