One killed in Lancaster County crash

LANCASTER COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person died after a single-vehicle crash early Sunday morning when the car they were driving ran off of the road and struck a tree.

The crash occurred at approximately 12:05 a.m., at the intersection of Route 605, Pinckardsville Road, and Route 615, Carlson Road, in Lancaster County.

Virginia State Police Trooper R. D. Cullison is investigating the crash.

The trooper’s investigation revealed that a 1994 Chevrolet pickup was traveling south on Route 605 when it went ran thru the stop sign at the intersection and struck a tree.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, Edward M. Butler, 58, of Lancaster County was transported to Rappahannock General Hospital via med-flight where he died from injuries sustained in the crash. He was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The crash remains under investigation.
