1 dead, another injured in a single vehicle crash in Amelia

AMELIA COUNTY, Va. (WRIC) — One person died in a single-vehicle crash in Amelia County Friday night.

The vehicle’s driver, Justin T. Tillman, 26 of Powhatan County died at the scene. According to a press release from the Virginia State Police who responded to the incident, Tillman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the accident.

The release also said that speed is being considered a factor in the crash, although the investigation is ongoing.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Friday night when Tillman drove a 1999 Ford-350 off the road on Route 609. The car struck a driveway, became airborne, and struck several trees before overturning and ejecting Tillman.

A passenger in the vehicle was given medical care to treat non-life threatening injuries.
