Will Wade signs contract extension through 2024

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — After one season at the helm of Virginia Commonwealth University’s men’s basketball team, second-year coach Will Wade is due for a sizeable raise.

In April, Wade signed an extension making him the Rams’ head coach through the 2024 season. On Wednesday, details of that deal were released.

Wade will make $1.4 million this year, earning an annual base salary of $650,000 and an additional $750,000 of supplemental compensation through his promotional duties on television and radio for the team.

After this season, that supplemental compensation goes up to $850,000.

Last season in his original contract that lasted five years through 2020, Wade made $1 million total.
