State Department issues travel warnings, new precautions mean longer delays

RICHMOND. Va. (WRIC) —  With the summer time comes vacations and overseas travelling, but in the midst of that safety is the number one priority.

The State Department is warning U.S. citizens that plan to travel to Europe about possible terrorist attacks.

The travel alert calls major sporting events, tourist sites, restaurants, and shopping centers possible targets.

Officials want U.S. citizens to be vigilant in public places and when using mass transportation, but this warning also means that there could be more delays at airport security.

The travel warning expires August 31.
