HARRISONBURG, Va. (WRIC) — James Madison was heartbroken Saturday when their run to the softball program’s first ever Women’s College World Series was abruptly ended 3-2 to LSU in the decisive game three.
The Dukes had a 1-0 series lead after Sophomore DH Jess Mrozak had a walk-off RBI single Friday. LSU won both games Saturday to take the series and advance to its second consecutive College World Series.
JMU lost game two 2-0 and game three 3-2. There was a chance to tie or walk-off into the College World Series with the bases loaded for the Dukes in the bottom of the seventh inning, senior pitcher Jailyn Ford came up to the plate and struck out swinging, ending James Madison’s season.
