12k and 5k run to raise money for wounded military officers

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — Families of the Wounded Fund, Inc., will host The Virginia Memorial Day12k and 5k Run Walk or Roll on Monday at Striker West Creek Field.

There will be giveaways and an opening ceremony where active military and military veterans will be honored.

Each person who participates in the race will receive a commemorative hat.  People who participate in the 12k race will also get a dri-fit runner’s t-shirt.

The race is to raise money for Families of the Wounded Fund, Inc., a nonprofit organization which provides financial support to family members and caregivers of military service men and women who have been wounded in combat or injured in the line of duty.

The organization provides a place to stay, meals, transportation, health care  and more for the family members.

The event will start Monday, May 30, at 8 a.m., at Striker West Creek Field located at 12575 West Creek Parkway,
