Arrest made in Midlothian Village homicide

RICHMOND, Va. (WRIC) — The Richmond Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Task Force, has made an arrest in connection to a homicide that occurred earlier this month at the Midlothian Village Apartments.

Larry M. Scott, 31, of the 5600 block of Petoskey Avenue, was arrested Friday morning at his home without incident. Scott, who also has an outstanding warrant from Chesterfield County, has been charged with conspiracy to commit murder.

The incident occurred at roughly 11:15 a.m. on Monday, May 9. When officers arrived in the 400 block of Midlothian Turnpike for reports of a double shooting, they found two males each suffering from gunshot wounds.

One of them, 23-year-old Rashawn A. Brathwaite of the 2300 block of Whitcomb Street, later died at the hospital. The second victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries and released.

Police believe the motive in the shooting was robbery.
