WILLIAMSBURG, Va. (WRIC) — Brittany Lincicome fired a 5-under 66 Thursday to become the leader in the clubhouse in the first round of the Kingsmill LPGA Championship Thursday.
Lincicome said the key to her day was putting, which has not been a strength for her this year.
“Just haven’t gotten the putter going. I’ve been driving the ball well and hitting my irons pretty well,” Lincicome said, “But today I had 27 or 28 putts. Any time you finish with putts in the 20s its good.”
Defending champion Minjee Lee also shot a 66, nearly holing a chip on 18 to take the lead outright.
The big threesome of the day included the world’s top three players: Lydia Ko, Inbee Park, and Lexi Thompson. Ko finished with a 2-over 73, Thompson shot a 1-over 72, and Inbee Park pulled up the rear in the group with a 3-over 75.
